US Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Vehicle Personnel LVTP7/AAVP7A1 - Conversion in kit by Gaso.line for Solido basis Solido or Verem bases to use for this kit: Leopard 1 all versions The first "Assault Amphibian Vehicle Personnel Mk. 7A1" was delivered in October 1983. FMC Corp. manufactured 333 of these vehicles. In addition to this amount, 853 LVTP7 were upgraded to the standard of the AAVP7A1. This welded aluminium alloy (max thickness: 1.75 in) vehicle is powered by a V8 turbo diesel Cummins VTA-903T engine yielding 525 hp. Though weighing 26.4 tonnes, the AAVP7A1 reaches speeds of 45 mph on roads and 7 knots in water. The maximum range with 171 US gallons is 300 mi on roads and 48 nm. 21 fully geared up men are transported onboard. Although not a fighting vehicle per say the crew of three can operate a turret, that mounts a M2HB .50 Browning machine-gun (with 1,000 cartridges) and a 40 mm Mk. 19 Mod. 3 grenade launcher (rate of fire: 550 rpm). The greatest number of AAVP7A1 is used by the USA, then South-Korea, Thailand, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Spain and Venezuela.
