Conversion Churchill ARK by Gaso.line for Corgi model basisAmongst the many variants of the Churchill tank the Armoured Ramp Carrier (A.R.K.) type has been specifically designed for the crossing of obstacles in the battlefield area. Early 1944 saw the development of this vehicle start with a batch of 50 Churchill III and IV which turrets were removed -the opening being closed by 14 mm thick steel plates. Some Girders carried two wooden roll-ways above the A.R.K. tracks. Two ramps prolonging the roll-ways were hinged to the front and the rear -respectively 1.05 m and 1.72 m. Operationally when required the ramps were dropped and the vehicles that were behind could merely roll onto this highly specialised tank.
