Sherman Flail Crab (Mine Clearing Tank) on Solido basis
The Sherman "Crab" was a standard combat vehicle that received a mine clearing device. This accessory consisted of two beams, fitted onto the tank's flanks, which carried a rotating metallic structure onto which were hung the chains that violently struck the ground to detonate mines. But the system had two shortcomings: the flailing process was slow: under 2 mph and the short-life of the striking chains that reduced the effectiveness of the mine sweep.
