 CARACTERISTIQUES TECHNIQUES L'Ostwind fut l'un des successeurs du Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen armé du 37 mm Flak 43 L/89. En juillet 1944, le premier prototype d'Ostwind (Vent d'est) utilisant le châssis du Panzer IV fut livré. Cette conversion devait être réalisée à partir de Panzers IV endommagés de retour du front (principalement Ausf. F/G). L'Ostwind était équipé d'une tourelle de DCA (ouverte au dessus) hexagonale, surnommée "Keksdose" (boîte à biscuits). Le canon de 37 mm Flak 43 L/89 de l'Ostwind à usage anti-aérien ou terrestre, déployait une grande puissance de feu. Très rares les Ostwinds étaient très efficaces face aux avions évoluant à basse altitude et les cibles terrestres. Ces engins seront utilisés par les Flugabwehrzugen (pelotons de DCA) des Panzerdivisions. Ce véhicule fut produit par " Ostbau Werke " à Sagan en Silésie à seulement une quarantaine d'unités. Ce nombre limité s'explique par le manque de caisse disponibles et les déménagements d'usines du fait de l'avance des armées soviétiques

 TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS Planned as a successor of the Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen armed with the Flak 37 mm 43 L/89, the first Ostwind utilizing the Panzer IV chassis made its roll-out in July 1944. The conversion was meant to be produced with some salvaged Panzer IV returned from the front -mainly Ausf. F/G. The Ostwind featured an hexagonal AAA turret (topless) nicknamed "Keksdose" -biscuit box. The main weapon of the Ostwind was the dreaded Flak 37 mm 43 L/89 gun displayed a great firepower that proved to be very effective against both ground and low-flying targets. This vehicle saw service within the "Flugabwehrzugen" (AAA squads) of the Panzerdivisions. This vehicle was manufactured by the "Ostbau Werke" of Sagan in Silesia. Only about forty units have been completed. This scarcity was due to the lack of available hulls and the factories moving because of the Soviet armies advance.
