Designed in 1934 and produced in 1937, about 17,000 units of the Demag Co. half-tracks have been manufactured until 1944. The ultimate development the D7 model officially named Sdkfz 10 entered production in 1939. Five variants have been built. This troop carrier met a great success and underwent numerous modifications for various usages: artillery tractor (anti-tank, general purpose and rocket launcher “Nebelwerfer”), self-propelled AAA (20 mm Flak 30 & 38) or tank-destroyer (37 mm and 50 mm PaK)…
Its 100 HP Maybach engine and its undercarriage that adequately distributes the weights onto the D7’s tracks provide this light half-track excellent cross-country abilities.
This emblematical vehicle saw action as the Wehrmacht’s workhorse on all theatres of operations all along WWII.
