Over 1,200 units of this semi-tracked vehicle have been manufactured between Mai 1943 and April 1945. The weight of the Sd. Kfz. 250/9 was 6.2 MT, and its 6-cylinders Maybach engine granted it a top speed of 65 km/h. The range was 175 km using the 140 litres of fuel from the tank.
The crew of 3 was protected by armour which thickness ranged from 14.5 mm for the fore section to 8 mm for the sides. The main weapon was the 20 mm KwK general purpose canon that had 100 shells stored in the hull. The secondary weapon was a co-axial 7.92 mm MG 42 machine-gun for which 2,010 cartridges were supplied.
This AFV displayed good cross-country capabilities. Because of its availability and great flexibility the Sd Kfz. 250/9 appeared on every WWII theatres of operations.
