In an attempt to obtain a cheap tank destroyer, 60 cross-country tracked RSO vehicles have been fitted with a PaK. 40 75 mm anti-tank gun. The gun mount was fixed onto a rotating plate installed in the cargo compartment. Underpowered and with a loudly engine, without any protection, the Panzerjäger RSO combination did not really perform adequately. The 60 fighting vehicles have been supplied to the 18. PzGrenadier-Division, the Panzerjäger Abteilungen 743 et 744, and the 1st Skijäger brigade. The ultimate development, which incorporated a 88 mm Pak:: the PzJag. K43/1, 2 and 3, led to a discarded project.
